New-age communication service in the India i.e. 5G may get its auction delayed. Earlier, government approved 13 applications for 5G trials in the country. It has been see that Chinese companies such as Huawei and ZTE have been kept out of the 5G trial. The telecom department had received a total of 16 applications for 5G trials. The leading operators in India have been given permission to conduct trials for 5G. However the update on this is that 5G auctions in India may occur in first half of 2022. Here is the complete story behind it.
5G auctions in India may occur in first half of 2022
Earlier the telecom ministry in India granted applications for leading telecom operators to conduct 5G trials in India. But now according to the reports, the telecom ministry is no longer in favour of conducting 5G auction this year. The reason given behind this is lack of financial funds with existing telcos. Although it has been seen that telecom companies are interested in conducting 5G trials soon and take this to commercial rollout. But the financial conditions may refrain them to buy new spectrum. 5G services are already available in many countries and if India gets delayed in deployment of 5G, it will not benefit anyone. But as per the reports received, 5G auctions may occur sometime in first half of 2022. If that stands correct, we can expect a commercial rollout of 5G services in second half of 2022 or may be even in first half 2023. Since India is the second largest populous country in the world, 5G roll out to everyone, just like 4G is now may be conducted in 2-3 years.
Its worth to mention here that Reliance Jio, in association with US technology firm Qualcomm, has successfully tested its 5G technology in the US. Currently, 5G customers from countries like USA, South Korea, Australia, Switzerland and Germany are getting 1 Gbps internet speed facility worldwide.
